Jewish Heritage Tour and Dohany Street Synagogue Ticket

If you wish to get a broader overview of Hungarian Jewish culture and its history, and would like to see the city from a different perspective, our Jewish Heritage tour is just the thing for you.

First, your guide will tell you about the most important chapters of Hungarian Jewry’s history.

As the highlight of the tour, you will visit the Dohány Street Synagogue (interior visit), which is the largest in Europe and the second-largest in the world. A guided tour of the Jewish Museum will introduce you to the Hungarian Jewish heritage through a unique collection of art pieces from Hungary and Eastern Europe, and the rich tradition of Judaism, its holidays, and everyday life. A separate room commemorates the Hungarian Holocaust.

Besides these, you will visit the Martyrs’ Cemetery, the Raoul Wallenberg Memorial Park with the Tree of Life, and the Heroes’ Temple (outside visit). After the tour, you will have the opportunity to visit the Jewish Quarter Exhibition in Goldmark Hall and the Family Research Center.

Grand Tour Only:

After a short break, you will continue your walkthrough of the Jewish Quarter, on the streets of the former Ghetto, where synagogues, monuments, kosher restaurants, and kosher shops can be found.

While your guide tells you important facts and local stories from this area, you will also learn more about Budapest. During your journey, you will visit the Memorial Park dedicated to Carl Lutz, then pass by the famous Gozsdu Passage.
The third stop of the Synagogue Triangle is the Kazinczy Street Synagogue (interior visit), one of the largest operating orthodox synagogues in Europe, built in the art-nouveau style.

At the end of the tour, you will be invited to enjoy a traditional Hungarian Jewish cake and coffee.
